WARNING SPOILERS!
This is far from the best of Jeremy Sisto's movies, but I have to admit I think this is one of his funniest of the lot! "Dead And Breakfast" is simply put, bloody hilarious! I can't say for sure if it is truly "America's answer to 'Shaun Of The Dead'", since I have never seen that English film, but I can say that "Dead And Breakfast" is a fun way to spend a rainy afternoon! It is a very fun and cheerful splatter comedy. Until I saw this movie, the funniest horror movie I had seen was "Scream" and even that one takes itself too seriously.
The one thing I hate is that Jeremy's character dies halfway or so through the film. The nice thing about the film is that it is pretty short, so that's okay. Moreover, the film stays pretty funny even after he gets killed off, mainly because he "sticks around" in a way (Okay yes, literally, due to a picket fence!)
Oz Perkins (son of "Psycho" star Anthony Perkins) is a very strong lead villain, and I also enjoyed Eric Palladino (who costarred with Jeremy in that awful "The Thirst") and Ever Carradine, who makes for a tough lead female hero. Actually, everyone in this film brought something to it, including Bianca Lawson (recently in "Broken" with Jeremy), Jeffrey Dean Morgan as the Sherrif, Gina Phillips (of "Jeepers Creepers") and a slew of others, all of them familiar faces that I like.
It's probably the cutest and most cheerful splatter-horror you'll ever see, and although it's not my favorite, it is funny enough and has a clever enough storyline that I recommend it to anyone!
Midi: "Thriller", naturally!!!
