DEAD DOG

Fan Review by Patsy, Jan. 22, 2008

Being a huge dog lover, and a fan of Jeremy Sisto, it was only a matter of time before I saw "Dead Dog", a not-well-known and very strange comedy about a guy whose dog is hit and killed by a car. Sounds kinda dull? Not if you're a dog person. In my life I have had many dogs, and even the "All American" dog, the golden retriever. His name was, wait for it, Goldie!

Since Mari is a former neighbor of mine, she met Goldie when I had him. He was a good dog, but a neighbor got mad at him for barking and poisoned him. Yes, poisoned him. He didn't even complain to me first, he just threw steak with carpet cleaner or something in it. Goldie was very ill and suffered some kidney damage, but he pulled through and lived another three years or so before he managed to break out of our yard and get hit and killed, just like the poor golden in this movie.

Anyway, this movie is very cute and kind of twisted in a good way. Mari brought it to my house one day and made me watch it with her. I actually got kinda mad at her for being cruel knowing my poor dog had suffered the same death! I can't take it when an animal dies! But when the main character, Tom, gets his revenge, it was mighty satisfying! The guy who hit and killed his dog is a dirtbag who cheats on his wife and treats her like crap. You can't feel anything but contempt for him to be honest.

The lady who plays the wife is Adrienne Shelly, who directed another great movie that I just saw a few weeks ago, "Waitress". So I will review that next. She did a great job in this film, and I couldn't help but cheer her on the way I did Tom (Jeremy Sisto.)

I really liked it. If you love dogs, I wouldn't pass it up!
