in memory of my father

fan review by michelle, april 27, 2010

Flippin ell this is a riotous piece of brilliance! I only ope I don't give away any spoilers. Daddy has bought the farm and his offspring: the eldest son Matt a spineless dolt, the middle son Jeremy a bitchy pre-divorcee and the youngest Chris, an immature git film the wake at Daddy's request. Whilst the family gathers to mourn Daddy's passing, the dolt gladly diddles the young mistress of Daddy. Pre-divorcee dabbles in drugs and homosexuality. And gitface fiddles with his scatterbrain teenage girlpal.

The 3 laddies parade their childish antics in front of an undred guests, but it's not just them on this reality show of the year. Chris's mate Pat flapps about the house shrilling profanities that will or won't have you running out of breath with laughter, depending on how well you handle the language.

Typical yank comedy this is not, and this ensemble, which really does play out like a reality show, is much more fun, and much less annoying (Snooki anyone?). Brawling, bickering and bawling aplenty, it's like a Woody Allen or one of Robert Altman's better bits, though probably not as polished, definitely not as subtle.

Right, my thoughts on Jeremy Sisto in this one? Brilliant, a joy. He sings, he broods, he bitches and rounds out the evening by frenching his boytoy friend Eric. Ecstasy, in every possible way. Oh, and Jeremy luv, you're a vision in that yellow robe...
