Real women, exposed
In spite of the playboy playmates on the front of the U.S. dvd, this is a comedy full of fully rounded female characters and some pretty amusing males as well.
It is hilarious and sexy physical and mental comedy about women abstaining from men for a whole summer while learning about themselves. Sounds like a typical existential 90s indie film (actually it was filmed in 2001), but it's just really a lot of fun. For simple laughs, turn to the "Paul" character, along with "Collin" and "Matt". For eye candy, "Micah" of course (Jeremy Sisto is absolutely lucious looking!)
But the real satisfaction of this film is getting a look at REAL women, the ones guys don't usually see after a wild frat party or when the "Babes Gone Wild" cameras are put away. Women with hangovers, plugged toilets, crappy cars, huge debts, and most of all, the magazine they've created and want to believe in. All 4 women are engaging, alive and believable: the writer/founder, the artist/cartoonist, the copywriter and the one whose dad is the source of financial support.
Give this one a chance, it's surprisingly great! Liked the first half better than the last, but the whole $1 million scheme, the bank prank, and the conflict with Micah are very amusing and leave you guessing! Pretty refreshing for a "romantic comedy"!
