More times than not I agree with my wife on films, but she must have been on something when she wrote her glowing review of this film sometime back. maybe if she watches it again she'll feel differently.
I'm not saying this movie is 100% garbage, but it's such a disappointment truly. First the pros-for a while the characters are all really fun. the girls are indeed cute. There's some really great laughs mostly due to the guys pranks they pull on the women. The director has a lot of creative ideas and the editing is fun too. I've been to Tallahasee Florida and seen the colorful cultures and I appreciate that this film "really" took place there.
Cons now. It was fun for a while. I wondered though why one could get completely wasted one night and be a devout buddhist the next day and it would have been nice to get into her beliefs a little. Too many things end up half done. Or god help me cliched. So one girl has a talent for guitar and songwriting-but instead of good songs, you have stupid "Phoebe Buffet" all over again. Remember "smelly cat, smelly cat!" A very hot girl wants to paint masterpieces, but what does she paint? Fucking abstract vaginas! AGAIN! The only girl that really came across as an original was the one whose boyfriend's folks hate her. How could a smart girl like her give a shit what they thought of her, and how come she liked N-Sync? It was dumb, but somehow it was actually funny.
Probably the most irritating character was the girl who was doing her thesis. I don't care if she might have been a lesbian, but what's with the animosity towards men altogether? She even calls Sisto's character "the enemy". Uh--WHY?
I admit, not the worst I've seen. It's more fun than Moonlight and Valentino, but if I had a choice, I'd just skip the cliches and watch Sex In The City.
