MANFAST

Notes From Hollywood Review

Manfast Viewers are Full of Delight
By Danielle Deremo

According to Manfast writer and director Tara Judelle, every good film “leaves you with something.” She describes her own movie as “a humanist film about getting to know yourself.” While the production didn’t exactly leave me with a new sense of self-understanding, it was a highly entertaining depiction of the adventure that four college women experience while fasting off men for one hundred days, evoking amused sentiments throughout the audience.

Manfast’s lighthearted and enjoyable style prevailed, despite continuous hardship during production. Even when the main set was burned to the ground, Judelle’s optimistic nature saw “the biggest obstacle as the biggest gift.” “You have to roll with the punches,” says Judelle with a resolute smile “Anything is possible.”

Judelle feels that working with the cast was the best part of production. “Every day on the set was so much fun,” she says. “I wish I had had more film.” The cast was successful in bringing life to the characters, from the spunky and diverse rock star to the quaint little sister on the verge of independence, to the wild sexaholic with her share of skeletons in the closet. The hilarious dialogue that these entertaining personalities provide juxtaposed with the inspirational narration makes Manfast a memorable film that is sure to put a smile on the face of anyone who watches it.
