Identity Of Seventh Body In Halloween Murder Spree Stuns Police
By Bea Bloodshed
Law enforcement officials were stunned yesterday when coroners
finally revealed the identity of the seventh and final victim in a
bizzare Halloween murder spree that has captured the nation's
attention.
"This may very well be the most horrific and bizzare case I've ever
investigated," said Andy Hawkins, a coroner for Los Angeles
County. "This ranks right up there with Jack the Ripper."
Police are still unsure of the motive behind the killing spree of 25
year old May Canady of Tustin. What is known is that Canady brutally
murdered five people and then gouged out one of her eyes and bled to
death.
Among the dead are 26 year old Jimmy Blank of Hollywood, 26 year old
Polly Marks of Tustin, 25 year old Ambrosia Hooker of Santa Ana, 26
year old Adam Stubbs of Anaheim and 25 year old Lorna Hooper of
Orange.
Tissue and blood studies have pieced together a "map" of sorts,
roughly explaining what took place in the murder spree.
Apparently Canady and Blank had a relationship of some sort, and had
some kind of confrontation in Canady's apartment. Blank was murdered
with a pair of sewing scissors and beheaded. His head was found in
Canady's freezer, along with the remains of a small animal, determined to be
a cat. Blank was a male prostitute well known in Hollywood and Santa
Monica and failed to come home on the morning of Oct. 27th. He was
reported missing on the 28th by his roommates.
Tissue samples from the neck unidentified victim did not match those
from Blank.
Canady apparently hid Blank's remains in her home and did not kill
anyone else that day. On Halloween night, she entered the home of
Marks and murdered her by cutting her throat with a scalpel. Shortly
after Marks was killed, Canady killed Hooker. Hooker's legs were
neatly removed at the juncture of the thigh.
Canady then went to the home shared by Stubbs and Robert Johnson, 26.
Johnson was at work that night, but Stubbs and his girlfriend, Hooper,
were in the home when Canady arrived. Some kind of confrontation
occured. Neighbors reported hearing Stubbs screaming at around 11 pm.
"It sounded like someone was attacking Chewbacca from STAR WARS!" exclaimed a neighbor, who wanted his name withheld.
