METHOD

Fan review by Patsy

"Method", also known as "The Method" is the kind of film we have all seen where we go "Man, that could have been a great one if they had only known what the hell they were doing!" "Method" is wasted potential, wasted talent, wasted time!

Jeremy Sisto does his best with what he is handed, as he always does but I certainly hope whoever manages him keeps him away from stuff like this in the future. It has potential to be a great film. I suspect this movie began as a Belle Gunnes documentary, but someone came along and said "Wouldn't it be slick to make this into a movie where the actress goes crazy and loses her ability to tell her role from her reality?" This has been done too many stupid times, and it is getting tiresome. Either make one movie or make the other, but they try to do both here, trying to make it hipper, cooler, more edgy or some such nonsense. What results is a jumbled meandering mess, complete with terrible, lazy-looking editing and mass confusion!

Liz Hurly is far from a great actress, but admirably she does her very best too. The problem with this movie is that nobody can help it. It's a bad script based on a stupid idea. They would have done better just to make the Belle Gunnes movie. From what I understand from Mary, this movie started out as the historical drama a few years ago, but again, someone came along with what they thought was a great and slick idea, and messed it up. Always beware of someone coming to "fix" your script, or telling you it would be cooler if they did it "this way". That's what happened with another Jeremy movie, a vampire story called "The Thirst". More on that later on.

"The Method" has some charms in it, especially due to Jeremy Sisto's presence and the period detail. Again, what a disappointment that they didn't just make a straightforward documentary film, or at least a nice, understandable historical drama. They have yet to make a decent movie based on this true and horrifying history of Belle Gunnes.
