In spite of a mildly raunchy beginning (did we really need to see that?!) Now You Know is a fun and harmless battle of the sexes type of comedy containing not only witty character dialogue but funny sight gags and physical comedy. Not Oscar worthy but far better than inferior more popular romanticoms like Date Movie and Knocked Up.
Jeremy Sisto is funny, tender, contrite and confused, while Rashida Jones plays a castrating killjoy, written as a petty, unforgiving, even hateful woman, likely to cause heated discussions about how men tend to write women this way. The generalizations are astounding, and even more so is the fact that audiences really heaped praise onto the writer/director for his "honest and knowledgable" portrayal of the "female" mind! Whoo-whee!!!
Still, Now You Know may be a pleasant reminder of movies like Chasing Amy. It's got a lot of rough spots, but it's filled with (mostly) likeable people. Jeremy Sisto's real life Mom has a sweet cameo as his character's Mom.
