NOW YOU KNOW

Article from News Askew at Vulgarthon 2002

Jeff Anderson, making his first appearance at Vulgarthon!

It's great to see Jeff in Jersey, and he fits in perfectly, chatting with fans and acting very laid-back all around, even though his flick's being seen in front of a public audience for the first time! That movie, "Now You Know", is being screened for us before most of the flick's cast and crew, and is still in rough form. Jeff tells us that the flick's got a few sound and editing problems so far, and also warns us of a tape switch in the middle (It's a BETA copy, but really looks great onscreen).

[A work in progress at the time of Vulgarthon '02,] Jeff described "Now You Know" as a romantic comedy. The flick was a really great surprise, as for Anderson's writing and directorial debut, it's quite good! Jeff had the film financed independently, which he explained meant that they can now seek distribution anywhere, and we're sure he'll find it. The flick's an ensemble piece, starring Anderson and a crew of very recognizable TV actors and actresses, Jeremy Sisto ("Six Feet Under"), Heather Paige Kent ("That's Life") and Rashida Jones ("Boston Public"). The crowd's favorite and easily the film's greatest discovery is Trevor Fehrman in the role of "Biscuit". The crowd was totally behind this guy. Great stuff. The film's got some very memorable gags, which we won't spoil here, but that include Kent's character's relationship with Jones' little brother, a fun exchange between Sisto's character (Jeremy) and a woman in a bar, some fun stuff at the start with Kevin Smith and wife Jennifer, and lots more. Both fans of View Askew and non-fans alike will enjoy the flick. Be sure and seek it out, whether it goes theatrically, to video, or to HBO or the like. We'll be chatting with Anderson more about this flick's progress and distribution as time goes on. Trust us, you want to see it!

NOW YOU KNOW Q&A - JEFF ANDERSON

Following the film's conclusion, theater one erupted into thunderous applause, and Jeff Anderson came to the front of the room to take questions on the film for about a half an hour. The audience had some critiques, but as a whole enjoyed the film and the performances a great deal. Jeff explained that they filmed the movie back in May for around 18 days, before the big Hollywood strike was set to happen, and that he had no problem finding some great actors for the roles. Jeff was kind to the audience and fielded questions ranging from his acting, future projects (to which he said he'd wait and see how this one worked out), the music in the film, the budget (which he said was incredibly low), and lots more. It was great seeing Jeff run his Q&A, let's hope he comes back with a new film next year, or even just for the final version of this one. One of the clear highlights of the evening.
