POPULATION/436
Fan Review by Naomi, December 2, 2009
População 436---I didn't think I would like this film at all. It just didn't seem my kind of film but I liked it so much! I have read criticism about how it takes Steve too long to figure out the town is evil. Watch carefully. It takes Steve 4 days to really understand what's happening. That's not all that long. On the outside, the people look "holy" and seem friendly and extend welcome to Steve. Really who wants to believe, even after you become suspicious, that you have stumbled onto evil en masse? Especially when you are outnumbered and hundreds of miles from the authorities? Like many American small town stories of lore, the people in this ville make their own rules and nobody dares to rebel, even to question, unless they want their brains cut out! Courtney knew, after her first time with the "fever" to keep her true opinions to herself. She opens her mouth at the festival to try to save Steve, and is doomed.
It is a surprisingly enjoyable tale but the end for all the characters is tragic, so be warned. Only silly scene for me: How did the young girl happen to have keys to the escape truck to get out of town? Maybe it was her dad's tow truck? Otherwise, very entertaining.
