SIX FEET UNDER

Fan Review by Gary, March 4, 2010

I miss this show. Actually I just saw season 5 a feew days ago and I'm still haunted. I've just got to commend Richard Marvin on the music. The theme at the end credits of season 5 was incredible. it's the theme that you hear in the pilot episode and maybe a couple of season 1 episodes. When music kind of gnaws at the gut, you know it's good, and his music does that to me. I love Thomas Newman's theme and his music from American Beauty, but Richard Marvin is incredible. He deserves bookoo awards. As for the show, always loved it. the pilot was a little strange with the commercials and whatnot, and it seemed to have a much more darkly humorous tone than the following. It was finding itself. The commercials were actually really fun, you'll never see cool commercials about anything to do with funerals, even after this show I guess. Rico seems a little too jolly when he is embalming his mentor Mr. Fisher, but again, the show was finding itself in this first epi. By the time Rico embalms an ifant who dies of Sids, he is the real Rico, and in season 2, you learn just how much he really loved Mr. F as he calls him. I loved the finale where you see most of the main characters meet their final destination, but I was a little miffed that Margaret Cheno, billy, George and Vanessa weren't included. True, Joanna Cassidy was a guest star, but she was a huge character. Billy was a main character in season 1, and in season 4 &5 George and Vanessa became part of the "main cast." Still, the finale was almost flawless. The music just hits you in the gut when you get your last look at Claire driving away and then those darn credits with that music. Amazing.
