There are still some countries that haven't yet seen this film. The latest country to get it is Portugal, as of November 13, 2006. DVDpt.com

information

SOME GIRL is quite possibly one of the best independent films of recent years. It premiered at the 1998 Los Angeles Independent Film Festival (LAIFF) and received an audience award for director Rory Kelly, who directed the romantic comedy SLEEP WITH ME, starring Parker Posey.

Although it was dismissed by some critics as a film with shallow, one dimensional characters, SOME GIRL won the hearts of many a viewer, from fans of Juliette Lewis to patrons of independent cinema. Described as "frustratingly beautiful and realistic", it is a quirky, funny, feisty comedy, occupied by characters that are defiantly sexy, yet extremely sensitive.

SOME GIRL is the screenwriting creation of actress Marissa Ribisi and her friend Brie Shaffer. Only now, some seven years after its first debut, is this sweet, eccentric script and the film it became getting the kind of attention it always deserved.

Marissa also stars in the film, as the focal character, Claire, a girl with porcelain skin and fiery red hair, and a gift for poetry that takes her to open mike performances at local bars and clubs. Claire is a lonely, troubled soul who strongly desires a lifelong love with a great guy, but something keeps interfering with her actually keeping hold of a solid relationship. After her latest relationship fiasco, Claire meets Chad (Jeremy Sisto), and this gambling woman is once again ready to take a chance.

SOME GIRL is not only the creative offspring of Marissa, it's a family project. Her mother, Gay Ribisi, is a producer. Her real life twin brother, Giovanni Ribisi, has a great role as the moody, wisecracking Jason, who doesn't like Claire's new beau. Many of Marissa's friends helped to produce and support the film too.
