POSSIBLE SPOILER!!!
Great little pic, very enjoyable. I'm surprised nobody's ever commented on how a certain geographical spot seems to have a significant role in the story. Not San Francisco, but the place across the bay that Alex stares at a couple of times, once in a photo and once while he is driving across the Golden Gate into Marin County. Toward the end of the film, he finally just goes there. It's the spot near the Headlands where he proposed to Maddie. He began life with her there, or at least began married life with her. When he goes to the same spot to "end" their life together, it comes crashing together how brutal a blow was dealt to Alex at such a young age.
Like Mari, I love thw whole San Francisco experience, even in a film. I'll watch Mrs. Doubtfire, The Rock, Bullitt, and all of the Star Trek movies, just because of the town they're set in. Being a big Star Trek fan, I loved that the film was set in the very place where Starfleet Headquarters will be in about 300 years! I also loved how the Borg were mentioned! It gave me a little thrill. That's how big a geek I am.
Back on track, I really enjoy this performance by Sisto. It's understandable why Mari's so in awe of him. For a young guy, he really knows how to dig in and channel his characters.
