this space between us
Review by Mr Billy.com
Alex (Jeremy Sisto) had it all-a hot wife (Vanessa Marcil), instant success and a bright-white future as a big time filmmaker. But now his wife is dead, his career has hit a major valley, and his pen is lodged in the hand of a Hollywood bigwig (Garry Marshall). Time to get away? Seems so, even if it means retreating to your hometown with no real plan beyond that.
THIS SPACE BETWEEN US is a prototype genre-bender, both a drama that doesn't take itself too seriously and a comedy that doesn't try to downplay the gravity of its characters' plights. That's not an easy line to toe, but SPACE manages to touch on all corners without losing either its taste for honesty or sense of romanticism. Why it took so long for this one to surface is a mystery.
